In summer on our Riviera the so-named "BREEZE FLOW" prevails: the earth, heated by the sun, causes upward flowing currents of hot air to be formed which create a depression zone near the coast thus drawing masses of cooler air from the sea towards the land.

This meteorological dynamic which brings about the "SEA BREEZE" begins around 12.30 solar time with a modest intensity, reaching its peak at around 17.00 with a speed of about 6-7 m/s. During this period of time the direction from which breeze blows tends to veer to the right by about four degrees an hour.
During the morning the "LAND BREEZE" normally prevails, blowing from the land out to sea. It begins in the early evening and continues until it is replaced by the "SEA BREEZE".
